Founder & CEO, Connecting the Dots

Bharat Avalani is the Secretary General of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA).

He is an accomplished marketer, facilitator and communicator who works with thought-leaders across the globe. Throughout his career, Bharat has been a habitual storyteller who captivates his audiences with his wealth of experience.

Bharat believes that Business Storytelling is the number one leadership and communication skill of the next decade. He is committed to helping restore humanity to the workplace, using storytelling as its method.

There is no better feeling than seeing a leader talk in an authentic and engaging way and to watch their audience ‘lean forward’ and engage. It’s what gets him out of bed in the morning.

Dr. Goh Chee Leong

CEO, HELP Tertiary of HELP Education Group

Dr Goh is the CEO for tertiary at the HELP Education Group, overseeing HELP University and HELP Academy. He was also founder and Dean of the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences at HELP University, Kuala Lumpur, which houses one of the largest Psychology programs in South East Asia. Dr Goh holds a PhD in Psychology and was the past President for the ASEAN Regional Union of Psychological Societies (ARUPS) and the President of the Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA). 

He has served as the project leader for 8 UNICEF projects in Malaysia and has served as an external consultant and trainer for over 50 organizations including Shell, Ogilvy and Mather, Petronas, Maxis, CIMB, Public Mutual and Bank Negara. His areas of specialization include the application of psychology to change management, talent management, conflict mediation, customer service, people management, stress management, talent management and leadership.

Dr Juliana French

Head of Department, Monash University

Dr Juliana French joined Monash University Malaysia in September 2016 upon completing her PhD in marketing which she earned from Monash University Malaysia. Originally trained as a primary school teacher, she switched fields and worked in advertising, television consultancy and sports management before returning to the world of academia.

Her research interests lie primarily in the area of consumption experiences and behaviour, specifically the influence of culture on consumption behaviour, symbolic consumption and consumer responses to the media. Juliana utilizes and specializes in a range of interpretive qualitative research.

Martin embarked on his illustrious career in communications back in 1991, amassing a wealth of experience in both local and international creative agencies. Throughout his journey, he deftly navigated a diverse portfolio of brands, both local and global. After a highly successful 15-year stint in advertising agencies, Martin transitioned into senior communication roles at esteemed organizations such as Telekom Malaysia, Sime Darby, and CIMB Bank.

In 2019, Martin embarked on a transformative shift from Brand Communication to People Management. This transition not only brought him great professional satisfaction but also unearthed a deep-seated passion for identifying and nurturing talents, skillfully resolving people-related challenges, and cultivating networks of potential.

Martin's extensive understanding of the communications industry enables him to engage in insightful and constructive discussions with peers across the marketing communications spectrum. He is a staunch advocate for equity and fairness, viewing them as indispensable cornerstones for organizational and employee prosperity.

Martin's journey with Publicis Groupe began as a Talent Acquisition Lead for the media vertical. His exceptional contributions propelled him to rise swiftly through the ranks, ultimately assuming the role of HR Business Partner, overseeing the entire spectrum of HR functions.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Martin leads a fulfilling personal life. He finds immense joy in his marriage and takes great pride in being a father to two accomplished young men. During his leisure moments, he immerses himself in the world of photography, relishing hands-on DIY projects, and indulging in the art of cooking.
